1st Impressions Makeup Review

Every girl needs these staple makeup products in their collection: primer, brow products, blush, concealer and color corrector.Well, I been in need of replenishing these products in my makeup collection. However, I never buy makeup full-priced so I waited for a good deal. I do this so I don’t fill guilty if it doesn’t work out for me.

Well, that day came when I found Maybelline at the 99 cents store. Tons of Maybelline products were there and they had a Walgreens Label, so you know that it legit. Ulta.com had 20% off your entire purchase where I brought NYX and Elf, which NXY was already on sale for Buy 1 Get 50%.

These are the products I purchase at the 99 cents store:

Maybelline New York Face Studio Master Hi-Light Blush, Nude, 0.31 Ounce

Maybelline New York Face Studio Master Hi-Light Blush Mauve

Maybelline New York Face Studio Master Hi-Light Bronzer Light Bronze

Each of the blush products cost $8.99 on Amazon.com, and I got them at 99 cents each, that is a savings of $16. The bronzer cost $11.33 and I also got this for 99 cents, which is a saving of $10.34. In total I saved $26.34 which is the half the price of a Too Faced Chocolate Bar, so that is get way to save for the semi-sweet bar.

These are the products I got at Ulta.com:

NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Brunette ($9.99 regular price, $3.99 final price)

NYX Color Correcting Concealer ($11.99 regular price,$9.59 final price)

Elf Lock On Liner and Brow Cream ($4 regular price, $3.20 final price )

Elf Aqua Beauty Aqua Primer Mist ($8 regular price, $6.40 final price  )

Now that you know the prices, now to my first thoughts on the products I got.

My friend, Sylvita Handmade gave me the Pacifica Transcendent Concentrated Concealer and the Pacifica Dream Big Volumizing Mascara. Thank you for these Vegan friendly products. Check out her youtube channel for more vegan products.

Ahoy Mate! Looking Dapper at Disneyland

I love dressing up and what better way to dress up than in the happiest place in the world, Disneyland. I attended unofficial event “Dapper Day” on Disneyland on May 1, 2016 for the first time. This blog is a bit late since there is no wifi in the sea, just kidding, but with no more delays let me tell you my adventure. This unofficial event is speared headed by Dapper Day organization, who states that this is a day of fashion outings where you dress in your best. Many people dress in vintage, but you can dress modern too.

I had to much fun planning my outfit and going to Disneyland.

Dapper Day Outfit

I wore  Unique Vintage Nautical 1950s Style White & Red Bon Voyage Swing Dress. I paired this dress with Forever 21 Sailor Inspired Cardigan that I borrowed from my sister. I also wore comfortable black Keds to walk around all day in Disneyland.

I matched the outfit with a Loungefly Minnie Bow Faux Leather satchel and a Minnie Mouse Tsum Tsum Crossbody Bag.

I hand made the vintage inspired red Pill-Box hat with white and navy ribbon accents.

Unforgettable Birthday Celebration

Attending a Dapper Day was a birthday celebration hit that was unforgettable. I got to walk around in the park and felt that like I was on a movie set or visiting the park in the 1950s.

I got a birthday pin which made Dapper Day more delightful. I got treated to a cute cupcake from the staff.

I highly recommend Dapper Day if you want to walk around Disneyland because it is the best time to get cute and take tons of photos and snap yourself throughout the park. It was great seeing everyone dress up and seeing their creative outfits.

What did you like of my adventure in Disneyland or my outfit? Let me know in the comment below.

Till the next time, stay curious and you will discover a world beyond yours.

Unique Gifts for the Fashionista

Christmas is tomorrow and the panic is set in. As much planning I do, I always end up shopping to the very last minute. However, I leave the last people that are easiest to get presents.

Fashionista love everything that is unique and in fashion. You can buy the latest fashion trend, but why not make it unique for them. Fashion is always on repeat. Trends that are happening today are trends that were invented in the past.

The big decades revivals that are happening now is the 60s,  70s and 90s

What better way to find these decades than the thrift stores. For your Fashionista in your life, the following are items that you can buy at a thrift store that you can’t never go wrong.

Purses

A good purse never goes out of fashion. Fashionista always has to have a purse as an accessory. You can buy a quirky to a fancy purse and the fashionista will know how to pair it with her outfits.

Coats

Coats are made to keep you warm. But for a fashionista it is a statement piece and not a necessary piece. Try looking for big coats. Those are usually the coats that never go out of fashion and the pieces that the fashionista go gaga for.

Dresses

Dresses are the fashion one piece and can be easily alter to fit or alter to modern fashion. This is the first place I look, because dresses are a staple in a fashionista closet.

Accessories

Your fashionista can’t be a fashionista without accessories. Try looking for these:

  • silk scarves
  • hats
  • gloves
  • wraps

Jewelry

These are definitely the best friend of the fashionista. Jewelry made back in those decades are durable and unique.

These are the items I look for in the thrift store and that are the pieces in my closet that one-of-kind pieces.

Hope you enjoy these ideas for unique gifts. If you do decide to give one of these unique gifts, #yayaiammaria or tag me Instagram or Facebook.

Till the next time, stay curious and you will discover a world beyond yours.

Unique Gifts for the Holidays

We are quickly approaching the holiday shopping season. On one of my hands, I have list of people longer than St. Nicholas’ list and on my mind I have the question:

“What is the perfect give for them?”

I love gifts and the enjoyment of giving a gift. To me, finding the gift is showing the person that you understand their personality.

This year, I made a pledge to myself to find unique gifts. When writing a list of possible gifts for the type of personality each individual has, I thought maybe I can write a unique gift guide to help people.

So how will classified unique? Usually one of kind or rare can’t be easily found. These items can be usually be found in a thrift store, vintage shops,  yard sales, flea markets or at your own talents.

In the next few weeks I am going to write five different posts on different personalities:

  • Book Lover
  • Geek
  • Artistic
  • Fashionista
  • Foodie

I will also mention some shops in Los Angeles or San Francisco area where you can unique finds.

Till the next time, stay curious and you will discover a world beyond yours.
